Here we go again. . .

Me ‘n’ Ricky went Tierra del Fuego (that’s waaay south) last week, each going 6-6. But, like Lewis and Clark, we press on …

 Orley's picks

Tennessee at Mississippi State: As goofy as the Vols have been — 44 against Georgia and still lost! — and as 5-0 and ranked as State is, UT most certainly is the best football team the Dogs will have faced so far. Tennessee can throw. State can defend it. Bulldogs 34, Vols 24.
Auburn at Ole Miss: The Rebs let one get away against A&M last week. The Tigers appear to have no “O.” This is the week Ole Miss finishes the job. Rebels 27, Auburn 14.
Southern Miss at Central Florida: Hard to believe USM’s 0-5 no matter how many wonderful players are gone from last season’s dazzling squad. Hate it. Just hate it. UCF 20, USM 10.
Alabama at Missouri: This is the week the Tigers, who have struggled, find out what it’s really like in the SEC. The hammer, baby. Big Bad Bama 40, Mizzou 14.
Florida at Vanderbilt: The Gators a Top 5 team? Ridiculous. But they play better every week. Unless Florida goes to sleep, Vandy goes down. UF 38, VU 20.

Kentucky at Arkansas: Give the Cats credit; they played hard against Mississippi State. All we know about the Hogs is they have 10 tons of talent, way too much for Big Blue. Arkansas 52, UK 17.
South Carolina at LSU: Game of the week, eh? No “O” LSU at Tiger Stadium against a South Carolina team that treated Georgia like stray Dawgs. I keep thinking LSU will play another really good game (LSU beat Washington 41-3 and Washington beat Stanford and …). Maybe not. USC 27, LSU 20.
Texas A&M at Louisiana Tech: Another one of those “who scheduled this game?” games. A&M in Ruston? Tech’s OK, but that kid QB from A&M is my new favorite player to watch. Aggies 42, Tech 24.
Stanford at Notre Dame: The Cardinal is out of Luck, right? Ah, but the luck of the Irish … Notre Dame 35, Stanford 20.
Texas-Oklahoma in Dallas: Oklahoma’s been disappointing. Texas has been near ‘bout defenseless. But, boy, can the Longhorns ever score … Texas 56, Sooners 35.

 Rick's picks

Tennessee at Mississippi State: State is a 3-point favorite over Tennessee, and it ought to be more. Bulldogs, 24-17.
Auburn at Ole Miss: One of these teams looks to be playing hard and one of them does not. I'll go with the former. Rebels 24, Auburn 20.
Southern Miss at Central Florida: Has USM ever been a 15-point underdog in a Conference USA game? They are now, but they may surprise. UCF, 17-14.
Alabama at Missouri: Missouri couldn't wait to get into the SEC. The question: Why? Bama big, 38-10.
Florida at Vanderbilt: Here's an upset waiting to happen. Only it won't. Gators, 27-24.
Kentucky at Arkansas: Two coaches who probably won't be around next season. One has to win. Arkansas, 38-7.
South Carolina at LSU: South Carolina has made a believer out of me. Visor over cap. USC, 30-24.
Texas A&M at Louisiana Tech: Biggest game in Tech history? Just might be. Tech, 38-34.
Stanford at Notre Dame: The Irish are for real, or at least I think they are. Our Lady, 38-27.
Texas-Oklahoma in Dallas: This one could go either way, but it will go on forever and it will be high-scoring. Texas 48-42.

Season records: Both are 36-15, 71 percent.
